Artist statement
Putte Helene Dal´s jewelry and sculptures are based on objects she finds. The artistic method is to see the potential of mass-produced things and materials found in nature; play with form / color / associations and function, then put the pieces together so they get new content and new life. Often the aesthetics appear in machine parts when they become part of a piece of jewelry, while the original value was only a function. Her jewelry comments on and highlights aspects of human life experiences, such as to feel small or measured, prejudged or reflections on age. In Dal´s artistic work she explores jewelry as meaningful and reflective of the personal and structural aspects of our society.
