About the work
The piece of jewelry is about the prevalence of fear, and to what extent we allow ourselves to be dominated by fear. Very relevant these days (written in 2007). The piece of jewelry could well have been titled Constructed Fear – that’s what I would have called it now.
Terrified is a word. Terrorfied is designed for the piece of jewelry, but could it become a word? How big a circumference should the fear encompass? There’s enough black ribbon here to accommodate more than the heart region.
